One of the premises within educational building constructions is the refurbishment of the building, as a method to simplify routes, rationalize the accesses, minimize the footprint and saving money to get more resources once the building is completed. Our proposal opt for the above-mentioned refurbishment, suggesting a unique irregular prism (perpendicular complemented by the volume of the gym and the porch) that covers all the long side of the plot.

These days we should prioritize on energy efficiency criteria. In that sense, we invested on a compact design where the building thermal enclosure was minimize, optimizing the shape factor and getting bigger energy savings.

It is of a vital importance to create an easy and instinctive layout in every public building, so that the user can easily orientate. Our proposal is organized based on a junction between two main alleys. One is parallel to the facade: is made up by interior galleries naturally lighted up by the gaps of their ends, porches, atrium (those dividing the galleries into segments) and classrooms glazed uprights.

The other main intersection is the axis perpendicular to the previous one, with which it crosses at its center and connect the two main common spaces: the main entrance porch, the central atrium and the Primary School playground area porch. The core of the main vertical communication is located on the junction between two axis, along the central atrium. The whole complex is resolved with only two staircases, one associated with the main entrance and the other with a direct exit to the primary playgrounds.

The gathering of the building and the economy of means that we propose let us (within the maximum of the constructed area) find some width where some intermediate spaces (where the collective encounter takes place) are the most lavish ones. Thus, it is proposed a double height entrance atrium as a meeting patio, where you can find all the different uses linked to the main lobby: reception, secretary, library, etc.
