At the edge of Guadalen, a farmers’ settlement near Vilches (Province of Jaen) there is a plot intended for social housing. Our first proposal of repeated semi-detached homes generated a scheme with a linear uniform volume that was somehow dissonant with the volumetric layout of the houses in the old settlement. They are bigger buildings, almost detached and with a double-pitched silhouette, parallel to the street. Then we changed to the option of grouping the houses in pairs, sharing a detached single-pichted at the first floor. This way the new block could echo the old settlement appearance.
