The 18th century Abbatial Palace of Alcala la Real was given a new life when it was refurbished to house both the city´s Archeological Museum and the local Academy of Music. It was then necessary to clean and clarify the typological layout of the building by recovering the prominence of the central courtyard and by re-arranging the back yards, so chaotic before this intervention.

In order to adapt the building to its modern set of uses a double “mechanical and circulation tower” was inserted at the main back yard. This piece does not to try to merge with the language of the historical structure but clearly contrast with it, showing its technological origin.
